Windows: Visualization and MemoryVisualization: A lesson that mentally asked us to travel to a window, identify its location, and think about what you see outside of the window was an interesting one. My mind traveled to the window in my home that wraps a game table on two sides where I reminisced about family game night with my sons, and writing time; then my mind traveled to the chapel windows on the women's retreat; and just as quickly, my mind traveled to the bay window when I was a resident assistant at Michigan State. But, finally, I wooshed back to my girlhood days, with the pink and white wallpaper, and my window of my bedroom where I rested for the majority of my growing-up years. I see more "Windows" pieces, though, that will capture these other spaces in my memory, and look forward to doing a similar lesson with my students. It is accessible to all students as everyone can think of a window...be it one at school, a friend's home, their home, relatives' homes and more. I see very interesting arts integration opportunties, too.
