Reading--Writing--Arts and Technology Integration
As with any learning opportunity, it becomes the application of the new ideas and concepts that is a cornerstone of promising practice and growth.
I find it irritating to read great professional literature, and get these terrific ideas for teaching, only to lose them when school begins. I decided to make a working document where I can reference resources I plan to integrate with our district's curriculum. I am eager to use composition books, grammar lessons and approaches from Jeff Anderson's Mechanically Inclined and writing lessons from Kelly Gallagher in Write Like This. In addition Anderson's 10 Things Every Writer Should Know is also in this year's tool box. As I pull together new Mentor Texts, I will have a space to capture my ideas and make changes. While we will not use all of Reading Street this year, I went ahead and plugged in all of the Units since there is discussion about which will be taught this year. I am ready, regardless. Finally, I have a place ready for the new technology I will use, and the arts integration lessons I plan to tackle. I look forward to adding to this as necessary. |
